The Ferozepur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance to pay ₹19.3 lakh plus 6 % annual interest to Dharminder Singh, nominee of a life-insurance policy bought by his late father, Sukhdev Singh. The insurer had repudiated the claim, alleging the deceased concealed chronic kidney disease. The commission found no documentary proof of this ailment, deeming the rejection a “clear deficiency in service.” Axis Bank, which sold the policy in October 2020, was absolved of liability. Apart from the insured sum, Bajaj Allianz must also pay ₹5,000 as compensation and litigation costs; it has 45 days to comply. The order covers interest from the complaint date (13 August 2021) until full realisation.
